Baby leaving on two wheels

My husband, the adventurer that he is, has brought it upon himself to cycle the roads of Europe. This has been a dream of his for many years after cycling through Norway 10 years ago. He was re-inspired in January when he read an article about two girls from Alesund who cycled the roads of America (see link in previous post). Since then we have had daily discussions about how, where, when, and what to take on his journey. He began training a few weeks ago but it was short-lived to combat the setting-in of boredom.

We celebrated the eve of his journey with a family date night at the local steakhouse. Tomorrow is D-Day. Toni is raring to go. He will train on the job so to speak. He's fuelled with a belly of carbs. The cycle is packed with 13 kilos of camping gear, maps, electronics and clothes. He has his helmet, shades and high-vis (or tabbard as some might say) at the ready. He departs at 0400hrs.

Udham and I wish him the journey of a lifetime, joy and exciting adventure. We will greet him on the flip side.

Subject to electronics functioning correctly, I will be posting Toni's progress on a daily basis so be sure to follow his journey.
