The day or should I say the night started with heavy rain. It rained all night. My poor old (brand new) tent had been in the box for too long that the waterproofing had started peeling off. There was panic in the morning as my alarm did not go off. My phone had died so I started the day at about 0700hrs. Just quickly packing everything and putting on the rain gear, I was on the bike within 10 minutes but you know how it is. It stopped raining so I had to take the rain gear off and pack it once more. And then the morning nature called so I had to stop again. I was in such a rush because it was going to be one of the hardest days - the first 10 km was a sheer climb. But I was prepared this time. I was going to take as much time as I needed to do it. So if I had to stop every 100 metres and celebrate, then every 500 metres have a party, so be it.
It went better than I thought. I was at the top in 3 hours I think. My plan was to stop at that point but it was only 1100hrs so the next best thing was to do as much as I could and suddenly I was at Dombås. The plan was to stop at a campsite and do some washing and
shower but I am proud and like smelling like a natural Toni. If I walk into a shop, people give way.
It was
nice ride - I had a cycle path most of the way and beautiful countryside. Then came
the rain again and I got dressed up in my rain gear and started to ride and then it stopped again. This time I carried on riding with the rain gear (stubborn me) and in the process I got drenched in my own sweat and then the rain. It was like cycling in a sauna. I think I have opened up all my pours.
In the end I crossed Dombås and saw a patch by the river to stop - way better than a campsite. It will be a lovely smell in the tent tonight and
it's all me.
